LEAGUE RACING AT HKC

Houston karting complex is proud to host the sodi World Series racing series!
SEE Information about the series and a link to register below.

Event Details:

Each event will consist of 3 sessions - a qualifying session, pre-final and a final race. Qualifying session is for the time and sets the grid for the pre-final.

After the Qualifying and before the Pre-final, there will be a drivers meeting. Pre-final is an 8 lap race (full track), rolling start (green flag on back straight) and sets the grid for the final.

Final is a 12 lap race (full track), rolling start (green flag on back straight) and is for points. Karts will be released in intervals during formation lap. The pole sitter is responsible for the formation lap pace, forming everyone up by turn 3, and starting the race once the green flag is dropped. Jumping the start will result in a black flag. (A stop and go penalty will be issued and you will re-enter the track at the back of the field.)

Karts will be picked at random before each race.

No kart swapping or requests are allowed.

Any kart mechanical issues must be brought to the race director’s attention prior to the drop of the green flag or no changes can be made. (to get their attention put your arm up in the air and stop where you are while in the grid or during the formation lap. A mechanical issue is defined as a safety or mechanical issue that will prevent your kart from completing the race).

fLAGS/CODE OF CONDUCT

Racing flags will be used for the event.

All racers must abide by the flags.

Ignoring flags will cause your disqualification of the race (no refund will be given) Flags:

Green Flag: Start of the race, restart after a full course yellow.

Yellow Flag:

Local yellow (flag hand held flat) - slow down in close proximity to the flag, no passing in that area.

Full course yellow (flag waving) - slow down for the whole track, no passing, get in formation. Red Flag: Race is stopped, stop where you are on track until notified to move.

Black Flag: The black flag will be pointed at you for unnecessary bumping or overly aggressive blocking. (This will be determined by the corner workers or race director) This is considered your first warning.

If the behavior continues, the black flag may be waived and pointed at you. If you receive a waving black flag, you must acknowledge the flag by putting your hand up then return to the pit lane for the remainder of that race. ( no refund will be given)

Blue Flag: A faster driver is behind you or you are about to be lapped, you need to provide racing room for them to pass.

White Flag: One lap to go, final lap.

Checkered Flag: Race is over, slow down and return to the pit.

dRIVING sTANDARDS

Driving standards shall be outlined to deem what’s expected by drivers competing in these events. Drivers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner on and off the race track, the Karts are not battering rams, moving road blocks or off road vehicles. This is an environment for people to enjoy road racing at its most grassroots level. We at HKC aim to provide a safe, fun and family friendly environment for competition.

Aggressive/Excessive Contact: Excessive contact is not tolerated. Drivers shall not push another kart off track, off a racing line or in any way use the kart to aggressively force another driver out of the way. Drivers should be aware that if there is contact that results in a change of position, the kart at fault may be penalized for the incident according to the race director’s discretion. A goodwill way to lessen the penalty would be to return the position.

Blocking: You get one move off of the racing line. Blocking is defined in this racing series as more than one move from the preferred racing line.

Unsafe Driving: Any driver deemed to be cutting the course or somehow gaining an advantage driving in a way the race director seems unsafe may receive a penalty.

It should be noted again that the race director can issue a penalty during or after the race for any one of these outlined offences or any other he or she sees necessary to protect the safety, and spirit of competition of the series.
